Tate and Nicholson, the specialist Roof Sheeting and Cladding division of the Southey Holdings Group were awarded the Roofing and Cladding contract for Eskom’s new 4 800 MW coal fired power station being built in Mpumalange – the Kusile Power Station. The contract involves, inter alia, the supply and installation of the sheeting to the boiler houses, auxiliary bays and conveyors as well as the associated rain water goods.
The contract commencement date is the second week in January 2014 with planned completion 50 month later. Approximately 250 000m2 of sheeting products will be supplied and installed during this period on buildings that are in excess of 100m high. The focus of the work being performed will be to provide a high level of safety at all times whilst not neglecting the demanding quality requirements and considerations. One of the highlights will be the ASGISA requirements and the division is committed to the upliftment and enhancement of the skills of the local personnel who will be employed to undertake this work. The current day contract value is around R218 000 000.00.
